In a car… once again
Oct 15th
Yo Internet!
If you like to watch videos of people rambling, this one is for you
I should explain about the ending… I thought I was only allowed to upload videos under 10 minuets onto YouTube, but right now, my computer is telling me “Congratulations! Your account is now enabled for uploads longer than 15 minutes” (epic fail) so I guess you missed out on a huge nerdy Doctor Who rant, but this video is long enough so I’ll do it another time :3
Anyway, it’s a new vlog! That hasn’t happened in a while! So I love/thank you for watching, please like and comment about the Beano and doctor who ‘n’ stuff.

I found an item! :D
Aug 28th
This is a short bit of filming I did a while back for a vlog I was going to do about me buying Twilight Princess and then playing it constantly till the very last second. Unfortunately, I never got round to making the video and I have now completed the game and am on my second play though. So it’s never going to happen really.
Anyway, this is what I did. Thanks to my dad for holding the game box on a piece of string and spinning it around for me. I used an old lamp for the yellow lighting and used some white string to suspend the game box in the air. I used photoshop for the banner at the end
ENJOY!

Zelda: Twilight Princess – Zant’s Theme: music analysis
Aug 27th
This is a really simple bit of music. Koji Kondo’s main aim with his music is to have music that can be repeated over and over again without becoming repetitive or dull. This piece succeeds so well in that department. The same four notes are played in a constant loop, with some chilling effects added over the top.
Zant is King of the Twilight. He is the dark lord, an insane man, wanting nothing other than power. But he isn’t the true king of the Twilight. His power is false, fake and he needs help from a certain god, who (without spoiling the plot) is even more evil than Zant. But the thing is, Zant is more disturbed and insane than the god who helps him.
Somebody commented on YouTube about this tune and said that it reminded them of a psychopath laughing while he kills his victims. This is by far the darkest and most disturbing piece Koji Kondo has ever produced, not just in the Zelda series, but all of the games he has worked on.
I think this would be quite inspirational for the film that I am doing, as it has quite a dark side to it, and the enemy in it that is fairly insane themselves. Not necessarily as mad as Zant, but they are very dark and born out of war and have no control over their actions. I think a piece inspired by this would suit it perfectly.
I am the Doctor / Every Planet, Every Star: music analysis
Aug 27th
This composition, basically defined the 2010 series of Doctor Who, but more importantly symbolises the eleventh incarnation of the Doctor. The music in this piece is cut and sliced during episodes and not all of it is used at once. The music changes under different circumstances and moods.
This music starts off with a section used in many of the early trailers, it’s all about expectation of what’s to come. At 20 seconds in, the piece becomes more dramatic as if your off on your adventure. At 25 seconds in, we hear the piece that was used when the Doctor took his new companion, Amy, away to see the stars. This is used to symbolise leaving home and the expectation and fun of adventures together. At 45 seconds the music becomes more dramatic and you can almost imagine this bit showing the Tardis tumbling through time. This was also used to show the Doctor’s might and power in one scene, where he managed to talk all of his enemies out of invading the Earth.
At 1 minute, 10 seconds we experience the emotional image of expectation of what is about to happen. When the piece changes again at 1 minute, 41 seconds we have what I see as the Doctor’s thinking part. Murray Gold often uses this when the Doctor is thinking up a plan and then, once again, expectation is aroused.
At 2 minutes 4 seconds in to the music, I think the Doctor’s age is expressed and we are reminded that he is a wise old being. The music makes the audience aware that he is more than any of us can comprehend.
At 2 minutes 38 seconds it becomes dramatic again, ready for the fight as it were, and then at 2 minutes, 52 seconds it becomes more innocent. I think it’s meant to portray the good morals the Doctor follows, even though he has fought so ferociously over the years.
This music really inspires me as it shows how you can compose one tune, then alter it in order to still represent what you want it to express, such as characters, mood and emotions. I think for my film I will try to use this technique.
Skyward Sword release date
Aug 17th
It was officially confirmed by Nintendo that the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will be released on the 18th of November in Europe and the 20th of November in America.
The date of release is the same throughout Europe.
That is all, only a short news report. Not much to say really but it’s great to have an official date for the games release.
The Legend of Zelda: The significance of certain animals in Japanese culture
Aug 15th

Link is his wolf form in Twilight Princess
In Japanese culture, most animals are used to symbolise human emotions, feelings or actions. I first became familiar with this when I saw some tsubas (a part of a Samurai sword) at Wolverhampton Museum and Art Gallery. Animals such as foxes, hares and fish were used to symbolise the person using the sword, and to remind them of tales of old when in battle to make sure they remember the morals of which their culture is built.
In bygone days Japanese grain farmers used to worship wolves and provided them with food near their dens so that they would protect their crops from animals such as wild boars and deer. Talismans and charms with images of wolves on them were thought to protect against disease, fire and other calamities. The Japanese view of the wolf has not changed. In Twilight Princess (the Gamecube’s swan song and a launch title for the Wii) the main feature that sets this game apart from the rest of the games in the series is that the latest incarnation of Link, the playable character, earns the ability to change from a man into a wolf. This view of the wolf well symbolises the character of Link, but Link’s wolf form also has some western influences as well.
Traditional Japanese culture is gradually blending in with western culture when making Zelda games, due to the need to localise the stories and to make them playable and understandable to the vast majority of gamers in the world. In the western world, the wolf isn’t respected as much in our stories and folk tales. A few examples of this are in “Little Red Riding Hood” and “The boy who cried Wolf”. These stories stereotype the creatures as being dark and evil. In Twilight Princess, Link turns into his wolf form when he is in the Twilight, where reality is taken over by an evil overlord.
So as you can see, for what seems like a simple twist in gameplay actually has quite a few cultural references behind it.
Lost in a Lift and getting a Lisp
Aug 8th
Continuing on from my previous holiday vlog, I am now in a lift in Première Inn and a little bit lost. I pressed the wrong button and then I pressed more wrong buttons in the hope that the lift would go to the correct floor, but it didn’t and I was stuck in there for about 2 minuets…
anyway… ENJOY!
